Hi,

I have a raceface BB and wonder if I can use a Hope bearing removal tool rather than buying the specified item. Don't really want to take the bike out of service whilst experimenting so if anyone knows from experience then I'd be grateful if they could share it.

Thanks

  • If you are talking about external bottom brackets, then the Hope tool can install the bearing but not remove them. Done this on the Race Face X-type external (the older black one). As Hopes bearings have a slightly smaller inner diameter the tool does fit lose on race face bearing, so you have to make sure the tool sits centered over the bearing.

The tool couldn't remove the bearing, as it couldn't sit on the back of the bearing to knock it out.

Sorry - as anticipated in the previous post - X Type and standard hope external - in fact for race face cranks.
