I have undone the 15 mm QR skewer but i can't pull it out of the axel. I have tried lubing it up and hitting it with a hammer lightly but no luck.

Any bright ideas ?

Thanks Stuart

Best idea is put the hammer down there is no such think as hitting anything lightly with a hammer.

Just be careful,I have ruined 2 Rockshox 15 maxles with the collar being made out of CHEESE!!!!
I didn't even tighten it up that much but as soon as i went to un-tighten it,the corner of the collar bent, and of course the other corner snapped.had to file it down to make a straight edge again....

  • I want to know why the collar is made from plastic anyway!! seems a bit daft, I haven't had any problems.... yet

  • I agree! After the first couple of rides I noticed a small bend on the collar after securing it. After a few rides I had to use a bit of pressure to remove it probably due to getting some grit into the bolt thu (well its a mountain bike aye?) It just bent the collar on the other side as well without much pressure been applied.

Is there a way to replace/concert the QR/locking mechanism to a lock/screw on type of bolt through as this things falling apart and they are rather expensive?

Carbon-ti do allen key bolts, I imagine others do as well.
