Yay! Finally I’ve found a ride I can do on my MTB, it sounds really good, I’ll be joining in, hopefully rope some more in too.
Don’t get to hear about many bike rides aimed at MTB riders in or surrounding Yorkshire, unless I’ve just not been looking in the right places.
Plenty of Sportives but I’ve a roady for those, although there’s nothing to stop me doing them on a MTB I suppose.0 -
Any body else doing this?
Considering signing up for the short route.
Whats the course like? I notice it says there are some technical bits - how technical are we talking?_______________

I'm considering it, did the Robin Hood ride last year which was graded as a 2 I think, was pretty gentle, but 40 miles was a lot more than I was used to.0

Really tempted - any reason why I shouldn't do it?
My average ride lenght is about 10 miles, but it consist of mainly single track with some fire roads & climbs.
Would be looking at doing the 15 miler._______________

The hills are a lot bigger than Cannock bit more rocky , but go for it as it would be a challange ,
I've booked in for the black route , I'm doing on average 28 miles round there , 4400 ft of climbing and I'm ... Cream crackered by the end so extra 10 miles is going to be hard with extra 2000 ft ..
Good luck0 -

Looking at the profiles they're quite steep - not a huge fan of hills, but figure this'll all be good to improve my riding/fitness etc._______________

Had a great day doing this on Saturday - brilliant event!
The climbs were hard - but the ascents afterwards were well worth it!
I only did the 15 miler, but at the end felt like I might have been able to tackle the 24 miler - on my list for next year!_______________

Thanks - the single track from the top of Mam Tor (including those flag stones!) was probably the most fun I've had on a bike! Nothing focuses the mind like a large drop off lol,_______________

Anything similar to this coming up? Looks like the sort of thing that would be great to try out for my first event.0

There's a load of events on the BHF website, not sure if there's anymore this year but I find registering early gives you a good goal to work towards anyway.
I did the Robin hood ride last year which is not at all technical but can still take it out of you. The Peak District ride is one of the more challenging rides they do, only reason I didn't do this years was because I wanted to get a few miles in on parts of the routes so I could see where I'm at.0 -
Cheers Ant, can't see much for this year unfortunately. Might get something booked in early for next year though!0
