what are they called ?

I cant for the life of me remember the name for them or find them. Its the metal / metal sticker that protects the chain stay from damage by any chain issues. Mine is all shredded after an encounter with a stick and chain so i'm looking for a replacement.

I'm also looking at a decent chainstay protector to stop the ill-effects of chain slap. - Tried the clear stickers before but it still makes that slapping sound. Any padded recommendations?

No - its a plate behind the chainset. :(

When I look for "Chainset Protectors" it just the strips that sit horizontal to stop chain slap.

Whatever these other things are called protect from slipped chain damage.

You can buy adhesive backed thin alu or stainless sheets and make your own to just the right shape and less expensive as well. Do a search for where to buy.
