Sounds good but at what point does your "winter bike" become your best bike? That's some spec for a winter hack.0

First pic of the pieces of kit, sorry for the delay, the rest to follow;
First a pic of my current summer ride ( I may use the stem and handle bars of this to reduce build cost)
Here's the new alloy seat post:
Going to re-use my headset cap:
New disc calipers:
New disc rotors:
Clarks Zero-G cabling:
More Images to follow tomorrow morning of the Wheels with rotors fitted.
I'm interested to see how this rides once built compared to my summer ride.Cipollini Bond

Never seen these Enve rims before... :roll:left the forum March 20230 -
Well spotted, they are light-cycle 45mm x 23mm tubless ready rims with Enve decals.Cipollini Bond

That does make me question the rest of the components authenticity.0

Nah everything else is 100% genuine, just didn't want to shell out a fortune for wheels as I was going to use this over winter until a friend took a tumble on his carbon bike on the ice recently whilst we where out together and totalled it.
The plan ( if it's viable) is to change the hubs on these to the new shimano 11spd disc and put them on the winter bike and buy a decent set for the summer bike.Cipollini Bond

The 20/24 spoke count makes that impossibleleft the forum March 20230 -
Thanks that answers the question.Cipollini Bond

Are there any 11spd centre lock disc hubs that would be compatible with these rims? Or is it due to their low spoke count and the need to double cross CX wheels?Cipollini Bond

As far as I know there is no hub that will take them... but you never know... Novatec have come out with a 20/24 disc wheelset, so hubs like those might be on the market in the futureleft the forum March 20230 -
Thank you, as always very helpful.Cipollini Bond

So the build is now finished and she rides really well with the 27mm Vittoria CG III tyres. I haven't noticed any reduction in average speed on the road and it's very smooth.
I decided to strip down and sell the current summer bike and for the time being this will be my do it all bike, but I have a really exciting project coming soon (watch this space).
I got some free bottles that go really well with the tyres on a recent sky ride, result:
Enough blab here's the pics:
Hope you like it!Cipollini Bond

That's fair enough - just don't put stickers on to pretend they're something else then!I'm left handed, if that matters.0 -
Why the Shimano transfers on the inside of the chain stays and forks? I was thinking of getting this frameset but, as I'll be going for a SRAM groupset, those transfers would put me off - do they come from Kinesis like that? Lovely looking bike otherwise 8)Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...0

Hmmm, very nice build :-)
I was thinking of going down the Lynskey Sportive Disc route but this CrossLight, the Granfondo and the Tripster have turned my head :-) Wondering if you have had any experience of the Lynskey and how if compares to your Crosslight or the Granfondo Ti? I'm just starting to list out my next bike for the summer - mainly Sportive in the Devon hills, disc brakes, possibly ti for durability, Ultegra 6800 - not sure about the rest yet.
Also, wonder if you could tell me what bars you have there, nice flat profile, are they comfortable?
Cheers.0 -

No they don't come with it so please do t let it out you off, my son wanted these stuck on as he has some on his mountain bike and after all most of its use will be on canal side paths with him. I let him put them on and he put one on the chain stay upside down too! Never mind he's happy.Cipollini Bond

Sorry can't really be of help as it's the first and only CX / aluminium framed bike I've rode, all I can say is is rides very smooth (much better with 27c tyres than it did with 23c) and the discs brakes have been a reverlation on sportive events when you need some control in a crowd.
Ultegra 6800 is excellent too much better than the 105 & 6700 I had on the previous bikes, especially the front shifting.
Hope this helps.Cipollini Bond

Sorry forgot to mention the bars , they are Bontrager race lite aero bars, I find them very comfortable, stiff and I like the fact the wires are internal. (These are now going to be the one must have comments for me, probably the carbon ones on my next project).
They are particularly comfortable on long climbs or when you want to sit up on a slow section etc.Cipollini Bond
