Funny chainring stain ??

Hi all,

Any idea why my new campy chorus chainrings have this stain on them?



I thought it was the oil from the chain at first but it's a brand new chain with no oil on yet.

Must be that thick grease off the chain, try cleaning it off with white spirit, WD40, hot soapy water ?

This, new campagnolo chains ship with a brown oil/grease/packing stuff on them, it has probably wicked across the ceramic ring by capillary action
