Anywhere to learn bike mechanics?

Is there anywhere I could go to learn bike maintenance/mechanicing (or whatever its called) around the Manchester area.

I can do basic's, but I dont fancy setting about my bike to make a tits of it and take it to the shop tail between my legs after being a ham fisted clown with it.
There was a course at Salford that I just missed.
I have an old wheel that I would love to strip and rebuild using new spokes, sounds easy.

I went to a course at the Edinburgh Co-op a few years ago (Newcastle store). I thought it was excellent and it gave me the confidence to have a go.

You can watch guides on nearly every maintenance event on youtube. You could teach your most things online unless you are after a proper qualification out of it.

YouTube and just have a crack, you won't be the first guy to go to a bike shop to sort a bit of diy out and you'll know what to do next time. Paying them to fix your cock ups will still probably be cheaper than bike course too

ATG have a base in Manchester. I've been and they are pretty good. The prices are comparable to others too.

This is excellent advice.
Working on your own bike is certainly desirable from the standpoint of saving time and money. It's not all that difficult with the right tools and a good video or instruction sheet on the subject.
