Nice looking bike
Have you any idea of the finished weight ? Curious as I've just taken delivery of a Whyte Suffolk with the same brakes with disc wheels, but I do like the look of the hope/archtype wheels. I have yet to weigh the white but they claim 10Kg.
Cheers.0 -
Whyte wheels tend to be pretty light. The ones on my Whyte 629 MTB are excellent. You won't get much lighter with the H Plus but they might well be a bit longer lasting. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Weight wise its 10.5Kg as pictured with Pedals/accessories, which i didn't think was too bad considering the fork is nearly a kilo on it's own.
Disc brakes are definatly the way to go in the wet though, no more grinding noise from brake pads against the rims0 -
With that wheel build, what weight are the front/rear wheels ?
Disc's def the way forward, especially in the wet ;-)0 -
Rear wheel is 1029g, Front wheel 917g
Not the lightest but the bike is used mainly for commuting so I wanted something strong.0 -
sorry for more questions, but is this weight with tyres/tubes & cassete fitted or just as in the above wheel only pictures ?
What cassete size & make have you fitted ?
cheers0 -
What tyres did you fit?WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

Yep tyres are rubeno pro's 25c,
The wheel weight is just the bare wheels only without anything on them apart from rim tape.0 -
So I'm on the hunt for a carbon road fork that will still take guards. So far i can't find anything apart from cx fork's which are going to look wrong imo0
-
Why? The standard fork looks absolutely fine to me.0

Not a 1 1/8 steerer, also that's not a disc fork0 -
Lots of win. Geneis in August will be supplying a carbon fork for the 2015 equilibrium disc so wait till then. I don't think the headset standard is changing so it should work fine. There is no carbon disc brake fork with a straight 1 1/8" steerer as far as I know.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0

Any of these? All are carbon disc forks with straight steerer and mudguard mounts. OK, a number are CX forks but there might be one you like.

How you finding it? Mine is on here somewhere. I love my ED its built with tiagra from my CDF and I run 32mm tyres meaning its a real go anywhere bike. May sell the carbon bike in the summer as I love this bike so much.0
-
It's a great bike for what I use it for (mainly commuting) although I do fancy another lighter bike for summer rides just not sure if I can go back to rim brakes.0
-
Nice bike you've built there, seriously considering building something like this myself as I would like my next road bike to be a disc braked and take full mudguards.0
