Mine was faced from new. I just used a knife to carefully remove the paint. If it's faced you will see the radial cut marks on the face.
My Scalp was also faced from new after painting.
  • I would definitely get it checked as mine looked like it was faced but got my lbs to check when fitting the headset and it needed a slight touch taking off the bottom bracket.
  • hhhmm. sounds like i better get it checked just in case. damn it! looks like ill be waiting another week or so before i get it built up and taken out

To answer your original question - I would get it faced

No reason for it to take a week though. Ring your lbs, tell them and turn up with goodies

They should be circumferel not radial!

  • so, ive got my mega tr pretty much all built up (finally). cant seem to get very good shifting on the front though, possibly becuase of the random mismatch of bits. running a 3x9 front shifter, 2x10 direct mount front mech and a 22/36 slx with bash guard. should i be able to get this combination working well ar will it never be quite right??

You may need to tweak the height of the mech so when in the larger ring it's not on a ramp point (on the side plates), that can create issues

2x front mechs can be too short to use when you have a bash.
Because you have to set it high enough to clear the bash some 2x front mechs can rub when in the granny.
  • well i seem to have it all set up near enough perfect now, barrel adjusters gone on my shifer so its not 100 percent but its pretty good! had first ride today. very impressed!!
