There were two bikes left then they got 5 from their base in Nice and the 8th came from Seche.

Security is a joke.
For years I've been hopping into paddocks at different events. I have movies from Donnington Park motorcircuit a few years back stood with Max Biaggis honda works moto gp bike. I was stood feet away when they fired it up.
I also have pictures from the paddock of this years tour of GB. I walked around the place for over 30 mins and have pics infront of most of the team bikes.
If I was that way inclined it wouldnt have been too hard to walk away with something. I was gobsmacked.

And let us not forget the man in underpants who was gifted a team highlighter pen Cipollini at the Giro a few years ago.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Was tempted to ride off on one of Madison Genesis's Volares today at the Clayton Spring Classic, instead of my Equilibrium. If questioned I could just have said I got the wrong bike by accident as they both had Genesis written on them...0

There were some alternative suggestions discussed previously here:

The thieves broke into the car, slipped it into neutral before moving it forward and stealing the bikes. Then, they rolled the car back so as not to arouse suspicion.
These are professionals, they know what they're doing
Never got this.
If you really take your work seriously, as these people obviously do, then why put all that effort into something criminal?
They're obviously capable of getting a real job.
Because there's more money in being a competent bike thief then in being a competent dustbin man.0 -

If you're going to steal a bike just to ride around on at least steal one relevant to the activity at hand. If he just wanted a bike to ride around the pavements on, why coudn't he have pinched a bike shaped object.Correlation is not causation.0 -
"The bikes worth £2,000 each"? I'd have thought the Zipps are worth close to that on their own.0

Yes I did think that was something of an underestimation...
I wonder if the victim's worried about drawing attention to other potentially expensive kit that he has? Or its just a c0ck up on the part of the journalist.Correlation is not causation.0 -
He can take some pleasure in the fact that that scrote will probably end up having to go to a chiropractor if he rides a stiff bike in that position for too long on those roads.
I hope that he finds him before the Police :twisted:0 -

Journalist: "I've written down £5,000 for a bike. That can't be right, bikes cost a few hundred - let's say £2k, that sounds like a really OTT price".0 -
You've got to feel sorry for all the dipshits who buy these stolen bikes when they find they have to sell the tubs cheaply 'third hand' to get the 50mm carbon clinchers they want on the bike.0
