Hi,
With it being icy this morning i was wondering which Tyre would be the safest option for commuting on the roads, a semi slick or an off road Tyre?
Any info much appreciated.
Thanks.

Nothing will grip on ice unless it's got studs, which will be rubbish on anything that isn't ice.I don't do smileys.

If the roads are genuinely ICY (as in a layer of frozen water, not just a dusting of frost) then plan an off-road commute and take your knobblies.
Most major roads will be gritted if there's a danger of ice, so in urban areas your best option may well be taking the slicks and pushing the bike until you get to gritted roads.0 -

Rain or no rain you want slicks for tarmac to maximise your contact patch. Knobs are designed to hook into dirt, mud, etc, but on smooth, hard surfaces knobs reduce the contact patch and therefore grip.0
