CX tyres

Hi
I am new to the whole CX thing and am looking for advice on tyres.
The bike currently has 35c racing Ralph's but looking for something better on mud. I use the bike for both road and off road commuting so something that is good on both would be great. Price range up to about £40 each.
Off road commuting is Pentlands so lots of mud with a few rocky bits. I don't want a mud specific tyre though. Something like a Nobby Nic would h&s e been great but can't find them for CX.

I use Michelin Mud 2 for off road / racing, but they would not last long on the road. I am not sure you will get a cross tyre that is good on the road as well as in the mud. Might be best to go for a happy medium.0

Vittoria XG Pros are a decent all-rounder. They aren't pure mud tyres (and indeed I could have used something more aggressive racing in the mud last weekend) but they do ok, and are reasonably quick on tarmac too.0

There's a thread about on/off road tyres a bit further down. Might be worth a read of this before everyone repeats themselves.0
