Any recommendations on something on par with the "Custom Avid Ultimate 7" that came with my bike http://www.specialized.com/gb/gb/bikes/ ... rbon#specs
Been having issues with them and the shop reckons I should replace them. Any suggestions?

I very much doubt an XC bike needs the icetech discs, in fact I would just stick with your Avid discs.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I ve got a Canyon CF SLX that came with Avid 7s, though they worked fine, I didn't like the modulation and the noise they made.
I bought some XT m785s, with organic pads and kept the original rotors, it has been the best thing I could have done, they are just great brakes, I cant recommend them enough

When I got the bike (used) the brakes were a little slack, there were some other issues too, so I took it to wheelcraft (near the campsie falls) for a service. After they bled the brakes, the front seized up on them. They also said the fluid that came out seemed very strange. They wanted to replace the front brake at the time but I pushed for them to repair it. They opened it up and apparently it was all corroded inside but managed to get it working again. Although it has an ugly bolt holding it together now. Well a few months later and the back brake is REALLY slack. It's basically touching the bar by the time it bites. I've taken it to Halfords as I have a careplan and am letting them have a look but now thinking these Avid's are too much trouble.POAH wrote:what issues?0 -
