Hi

Any tips on removing a stubborn seat post, aluminium post and aluminium frame? I've tried the wooden mallet, WD40 etc, can't even twist it!

Anyone know what the standard size seat post is for a 2011 giant defy 4, just incase I need to go down the drastic route?

Old saddle attached, clamp it in a vice or workmate, twist the frame.

If that doesn't shift it you need to try the more destructive options...

Giant sport alloy seatpost is available in 2 sizes 27.2mm or 30.9mm (usually 30.9 on the Defy). If you manage to get it out the size will be stamped/etched/screened on near to the minimum insertion mark, or measure with an engineers vernier.

I had the same issue on an old steel frame and tried all sorts with no success.
Finally I referred to school physics. stick an old saddle on the seat post. get a thin long metal rod and put through the rails, then slowly turn. The post should move with ease if you have enough leverage and if you can get someone else to pull up on the saddle it should come out smoothly.

I would like to point out that no saddles were damaged during this process
