Can you do away with the b-tension screw sometimes?

My rear mech states "minimum tooth 21" and "maximum tooth 26" and I have a 12-23 cassette on.

I took the b-tension screw all the way out and even then the upper jockey wheel was clearing the big sprocket just fine.

Aren't I better taking it right out to get the mech as close to the cassette as possible?

Will winding that screw in any amount only make shifting worse?

I know on some cheap mechs like Tourney they don't even have that screw on them, so how important is it on a Shimano rear mech anyway lol, I mean on a road cassette when you get under 25T. Yeah when I had a 11-32T cassette, adjusting that screw all the way in (on a MTB mech) was a must, but this current cassette has 9 less teeth on the biggest sprocket and is only 2 teeth over the minimum allowed on it.

Just wondered if anyone has taken their b-tension screw fully out and off the bike when they have a 23T biggest sprocket. Come on it saves 0.48768473 grams.
