I bent my right hood inwards in a crash (while hand was still on it... :(). I managed to pull it back in line, but will it be compromised, should I take the tape off and check? I'm a road newbie, so don't really know if it could come loose while cycling?

Unless it was a bit hit, it's more likely to be just cosmetic. Pull back the rubber hood to check that you haven't damaged the lever housing.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Yeah it's all working fine and seems fine, I say bent I suppose more twisted the entire hood, so the bit that connects the hoods to the bar twisted around the bar.

It's fine. Depending on how tight you have them clamped it can be a bit better to loosen the clamp before repositioning them rather than smacking them back into place with the heel of your hand - though most of us do that.
