Hi guys,

Garmin 800's selling pretty cheap at the moment, interested in peoples opinions on it vs the 810.

How well does it work as a navigation aid in the UK on small country roads? Can you easily create a route, save it and bang it into the 800 and then make it work out on the road? How do the navigation prompts work? do you get an audio prompt to turn off a road for example? do you get a visual indicator on the device as well? When navigation is open can you see your current speed / cadence / HR etc?

Appreciate the insight guys

The 800 does all of what you mention, have a read of this guide, it is quite a techy bit of kit and not easy but this guide helps a lot. It is very customisable though and I love mine. The 810 has other features that you don't mention that you need.

  • As far as I know, the main difference between the 800 v 810 is that the 810 has bluetooth connevtivity, as well as allowing live tracking.

The 800 does provide navigation prompts by beeping ahead of turns, you can also set it to view your current speed etc etc but to beep and flash up directions when approaching a turn. Like handful mentioned, the guide on scarletfire is excellent.
