Screw you winter! Is anyone else sick of this wet winter yet?
I got a nice shiny new 29er on the 10th of Jan and it looks a right state with mudgaurds, light mounts and skinny tyres ( I am not a fair weather rider).
Plus there are the patches of mud that some how manage to get right amongst the shifters, under the seat etc that never disappear, the seemingly impossible task of dressing correctly for the temperature, the washing of the bike in the sodding rain and cold etc.
Bring on the sunshine!

As long as I'm on the bike it's all fun, rain or shine. All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

I love being out on my bike, just not the fact it looks like a bag of poop and I end up looking like a bag of poop too!Remember Rule #50 -

Don't mind any of that. The only thing I don't like about this time of year is the wind. Everything else I can cope with. All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

looked a state before all that stuff what with it being a 29er0 -
Wet downhill is excellent fun. Sharpens up the skills for summer as well.
This is the only time of year I will go to trail centres, they're nice and quiet plus they're the best all weather rides.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

I started mountain biking with group night rides in winter 2012 so knew nothing different however I did find it tougher going into winter this year having been used to bright sunshine, dry dusty trails and only needing to wear shorts and t-shirt but aside from a couple of rough rides (freezing air, wet ground/snow, frozen up components argh) I've got used to it again and enjoying the rides. Sometimes I feel a little reluctant when getting started but when you get up to temperature, the bike and you are wet and muddy I don't really care and just enjoy the riding.
It's what I find great about mountain biking is that you can go riding pretty much any time and any where in any weather conditions and it can still be enjoyable.
