So I'm completely new to all this, just starting out. Bought myself a Boardman FS. Its in great condition. When I bought it the fella told me that the suspension might need air in to adjust to my weight? Well basically when I sit on the bike the rear suspension pretty much closes completely. I've heard that it needs to be around 10%.. Ive tried pumping it up with a normal handpump but I just cant get it to withstand my weight? Any help would be much appreciated as I don't want to be taking it the bikeshop every time I get a little hiccup! oh and im about 12 stone if this helps, do I need a proper rear suspension pump or? Its a rock shox monarch I think
Thanks!
Rhys

I tend to run my bikes between 25-30% sag. You'll need a proper shock pump to set it up, standard hand pumps won't be able to push anywhere near the PSI you will need.0

A hand pump wont do it as you wont get the necessary pressure out of it, you need a shock pump like so for example - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/tope ... p-prod73550

Thanks lads, manged to get hold of a shock pump, so 25-30% is whats showing on the suspension when your on it full weight?0

No,need 25-30% of the shock compressed when you sit on the bike.Specialized-The clitoris of bikes.0
