Quite an upgrade

Well, I finally got sick of being battered by British roads, I tried rule 5, but was losing my love of cycling. So I have upgraded my lovely Ribble, to this:
Changes made since I brought it:
Put on my lovely Cinelli Neo Morphe handlebars.
Swapped Bontrager R1 tires for my gatorskins.
The rear end is amazing, even better than hoped for. The front (perhaps because it's shown up by the rear or perhaps because I am used to the neos) was a bit jarring on the hands, hence the swap.
Ultegra 6800 is awesome, front derailleur requires no more effort to change than the rear.
Weight with everything shown is 8.24kg.
Big shout out to Activ Cycles in Folkestone, great service and their points system means the cost of the bike was substantially lower than elsewhere.

Some people are like slinkies - not much use for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

That aint a bad looking bike, although the external cable routing let's it right down.Cervelo S5 Ultegra Di2.0

Friend of mine recently completed a LEJOG on his new Domane and could not believe how 'comfortable' it was - the future of cycling frames perhaps? Good luck with yours.Raymondo

There's nothing wrong with the Ribble - HTFU.
Nice Trek.0 -
Rule 5?0

Like all Treks, it needs more stem spacers.
Looks a nice paint job/ finish.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0 -
Nice bike! Heard good things about the Domane, enjoy!upperoilcan wrote:That aint a bad looking bike, although the external cable routing let's it right down.
Ever tried replacing an internally routed cable? I have, I definitely prefer externally routed ones!0 -
Nice bike.
Is it the 4.5 2014 Domane . As yours looks more red than the orange on the actual Trek website.
Or maybe I am just a bit colour blind.0 -

Worth a read, very funny and you will certainly look at your bike and cycling in a different way
As for the Trek, gorgeous looking bike. Big thumbs up from me2013 Bianchi Vertigo Carbon with Campagnolo Zondas

Nice choice - but would be even nicer if trek had specked the 6850 chainset to match, the FSA cheapens the overall look which is a real shame as it's lovely otherwise.0

It is the 4.5 I took several pictures and the orange always looks red. It's definitely orange though.
The 4.7 has the ultegra crank and brakes for £300 more. I figured they can be upgrades if needed at some point in the future.
I deliberately went for external cables having had a nightmare with a Boardman which now has external cables because I have been unable to re thread the internal one. Cable ties is not a good look. Some people are like slinkies - not much use for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

You'd think they could have got the logos etc printed on straight on those bars. Unless it is an optical illusion, it looks like the lettering is higher on the left than the right!
Does show that these bars are designed for left front braking - the cable exits so near to the stem make for a really tight bend for the rear brake line.Faster than a tent.......0 -
Been looking around for a second hand Domane, but very few to be found. Says it all really.
Nice looking bike.0 -

DAMN AND BLAST! just had a look, its not an optical illusion. Given how much they cost I'm a bit disappointed! However they are bloody good bars. Some people are like slinkies - not much use for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Oh cack! I'm sorry! I'd have noticed that straight away - if I'd thought you hadn't spotted it I would have kept my trap shut! :oops:Faster than a tent.......0 -

No i dont do maintenance,
Although an externally routed cable may well be functional, fact remains it does nothing for the asthetics.Cervelo S5 Ultegra Di2.0 -
