inner tube popped x2 in one go

I had a great morning up at BPW yesterday but on my planned final run i hit a piece of shale stone and the rear tube popped.
As it was my last run i couldn't be bothered to repair it at the track. Today I looked at the tyre and tube to see the damage. The tyre is brand new and there is no damage to it. The inner tube had 2 small slits in it, side by side but approx 10mm apart.
The tubes have bontrager printed on them (they are on my new trek) but they are also stamped with the word thin.
How / why would the tube damage his way while rolling over a stone? i was running approx 28psi at the time in the rear.
Any recommendations for quality inner tubes?

Occupational hazard. If it happens too often your pressure is too low. Otherwise unweight the back (normally rear punctures) when you see something with an edge.I don't do smileys.

And most 'normal' tubes are marked "thin". The light ones are marked "super-thin", whilst DH ones probably don't say anyting!0
