29er Fork Buying Advice

Hi,

I've been riding a Scott Scale 29er for a while and the stock forks are just awful and really heavy, I think they are Suntour XTR LO 29er's.

I haven't got a great deal to spend in upgrading, probs £250, I'm wondering if it's worth spending this amount and what would be decent fork as I've only just moved into the world of off road riding.
