Rear Mudguards

I've just fitted a Reverb to my BFe and have been toying with the idea of some sort of rear mudguard to give the dropper a little protection.
I run a Mucky Nutz Bender Fender on the front which I really like so thought about possibly using one of these on the rear as well, has anyone else used them in this way and does it give any noticeable protection?

Just reluctantly fitted a mudhugger to my winter bike after rides and rides of getting wet and muddy (even soaking through waterproof shorts)
Dramatically cuts down the amount of spray and mud I get on my 'arris.
Quite expensive but does the job.0 -

Mucky Nutz do make a dedicated rear mudguard, it's not especially ugly (or, at 50g, very heavy) - here.
I reckon on my frame I could get one on the seat stays so I might give it a go, I've seen their actual rear fender but I was looking for something a bit more minimal!!"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut.
