Can anyone tell me how to measure a stem?
i.e. where do u measure from?
I have just measured my stem from centre of top cap to centre of handle bar and it measured 105mm. printed on the side is .8x100. its a giant defy connect stem. guessing its 100mm but confused why it measures 105mm ?

It's through the centre-line of the stem itself, or rather it should be normally. Having said that, I also have a stem that is a tad longer than the given size, though not a Giant stem. I guess that like tyres there's some variation between brands.

Where are you at mate? I may have a short stem kicking around if you wanna collect? think it measures 95 mm?
