Chainset cover doohickey

My bike gets kept in the hallway, bottom of the stairs, just in the right place for my (nearly) two year old son to keep attempting to brain himself on the pedals/chain/rear mech. Has anyone found anything clever that would cover up the crank/chain/mech so that he'd be less likely to hurt himself or, more importantly, my bike?
