Fork crown/axle height
Hi all.
I'm just building up a bargain tifosi ck1 frame as a winter cross bike but need a bit of advice please re forks.
The Tifosi fork that comes with the complete bike is heavy although available (thanks Malcolm @ the cycle clinic) so I thought that I might use the kinesis pure cx instead. It's cheaper and about 400g lighter. They both have the same rake of 45mm, but the tifosi has a c2a of 388 whilst the kinesis is 405.
Will 17mm difference c2a height with the same rake make a huge difference to handling? Presumably, it will make handling a bit slower but I've no idea how much. Is it best to stick with the fork intended for the bike?

Adding 20mm of fork length decreases the headtube angle by about a degree - would make it less nippy for tight turns in CX but probably make it handle better on slower, offroad conditions. Most CX forks are in the region of 400-405mm to give decent tyre clearance. I'd quite happily ride either.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks for that - sounds like you don't think it's going to be too much of a problem then....0
