Hi all,

Been an owner of the cannondale F6 disc since 2008 and always found it was the perfect bike for me, unfortunately it was stolen a few months ago and has not been found. So I'm now in the market for a replacement hardtail.

Most bikes these days seems to have reasonable forks and brakes so that's fine but one of the main things I loved about that bike was the light yet well balanced frame that always gave you great confidence even with a bit of knee down action.

I see a few new brands on the scene these days including the decathalon at the top of this forum and the boardmans as well.

So in summary I'm looking for some help from any of you peeps who've experienced that cannondale frame and can recommend a current model of similar feel and weight with decent specs. Sticking to the £500 - £600 price bracket.

Any help and pointers would be appreciated :)

Cheers

Pete

It would have to be a Boardman or Decathlon ;). Bikes today are much worse value than they were, and many are plagued by poor forks. You may find a reduced cannondale on sale, but again, be wary of the fork.

    Hi Supersonic

Thanks for the tip...I noticed forks seemed a bit mixed up on how they used to be.

For my kind of budget are we still looking at rockshox being the preferred forks in my price range? Ive noticed a few brands sneaking in suntours where they used to have rockshox.

Thanks again for the heads up...anything other than forks I need to watch out for? Bit outdated on the good bad an ugly these days as you can tell :)

    Cheers

Suntour (and Rockshox for that matter!) have a range of forks from the truly dire to high end. The Suntour Epicon for example is a very good unit, and preferable to a low end RS, such as the XC28.

    This is ok:

But better specs can be had. The Boardman Comp has better kit in most areas, and a really nice frame too. A little over your budget scores a Zaskar:

Is still hard to beat the Rockrider 8.1 for all round value and performance.

That's great thank you...gives me a bit of food for thought :)

Think I've got a few ideas now so now I think it's the fun part of finding some stores to check how they all feel to sit on etc...

Going to be great getting out there again once I find the right bike for me

Thanks again for all the pointers

    Cheers
