I'm mainly after a couple of tops and a waterproof jacket. In a normal T-shirt I'm an xl-xxl but its hard to find nice fitting stuff. Price is not so much of an issue as long as it fits well. What tops and jackets would you guys recommend?

I'm usually similar size to you in tops and my Altura mayhem jacket is fine. I have Fox jerseys that are fine too, as well as Helly Hansen.

I used to be quite curvaceous and found Royal Racing and Thor kit quite good in xl-xxl sizes.
DHB are quite good for tights but go up a size.

Madison clothing is quite generous. http://www.madison.cc/

Altura and DHB used to be good but they both seem to have gone a bit roadie recently.

If you're cycling to lose weight how about you have some sort of incentive scheme? Say you go from 2xl to xl, then you could buy yourself a nice base layer or something, or you could buy kit that was too small and try and lose enough to fit into it. Can't really comment on brands, but if you are looking to lose weight this idea will help stop you having a load of useless kit further down the line. Just came into my head when I read this, feel free to critique at you leisure...

Buying kit a size too small is no good. Loosing weight is a slow process and wearing uncomfortable, badly fitting kit is not going to help motivation to ride more.
Buy the right size but no more than you need.

Cheers guys. I'll look into your very helpful suggestions. I cycle because I enjoy it any weight loss is a bonus. I'm putting in the miles anyway albeit on the road. (Heading to bpw and afan in February and the fact I've just brought a new bike) so by summer I should be able to fit Into most of the nicer stuff. But I still need something for now.
