Front brake caliper bolt

Hi
This is a bit odd. Fitting a pair of chorus brakes on to a 2010 specialized roubaix frame and either the front caliper thread or bolt is not long enough. You tighten all the way up and it's still way too loose. No problem fitting on other frames so guess it's something different on the specialized forks.

Do I just need to pack out with a thick washer between caliper and frame or should I be looking for a longer bolt. I thought all this stuff was relatively standard.

Many thanks

There are different lengths of bolt. Standard is 13.5mm which is what you've probably got. Then you can get them with 18.5 and 24mm bolts. I needed longer when fitting a pair of SR calipers to my Look - so I just used the original bolt. If you haven't got one that is long enough then I'm sure you can get them cheaply enough. I wouldn't use a washer unless you can be sure that the bolt is engaging with a decent number of threads on the bolt - Campag say at least 6 threads minimum.
