XC / Marathon 29er/27.5 for <£3000, any ideas?

So far the -

Canyon LUX CF 8.9 - 29er

and the

Giant Anthem Advanced 1 27.5

have sparked an interest.

Anyone got some ideas on some bad boys that could compete with these 2?

    The Anthem is a really excellent bike but I would go for the 29er version.

    That Canyon you linked is very much a race weapon. It won the 2013 Leadville 100 at the first attempt much the chagrin of the Americans. Past winners include a juiced up Lance Armstrong on a Trek !

    Like the Cube but I'm retiring my current AMS 100 so I'd like to try something new now.
    Giant are hinting that 29ers will only last another couple of years and I've seen the graphs with contact patch, weight, etc comparing 26, 27.5 and 29 so I'm leaning towards a 27.5...although the Canyon does look fken great...if only it was 27.5 it'd be ideal I think.
    My back's too old for a hardtail these days njee :-)
    The Epic isn't bad either, a bit common, but I'd like to give one a test ride. Unfortunately I'd need a Large, and the page only said medium or XL.

    I went through exactly this process a few months or so ago.

    Considered Canyon Lux, Cube 100 AMS, Spesh Epic, Giant Anthem as above were IMO the main contenders.

    In he end decided that the Canyon Lux CF 8.9 suited my needs. It should be delivered next week. :D:lol:

    You can see the guys who designed your bike in this video....
    I noticed a copy of MBR on the magazine shelf, proof they do listen to what goes on in the UK market !
    They also have a surprisingly large cabinet full of patent files.

    Part 2 is linked on the bottom of the page shows the bikes being built up and the CT scanner used to check QC of the carbon frames.
