Easiest way to determine chain length is to put the chain round the big ring at the front and the smallest ring at the back. In this gear the rear deraillieur cage should sit at 90 degrees to the ground (straight line up and down).0

According to Shimano in the big ring / small sprocket combo the jockey wheels should be vertically aligned (not the cage)0 -
