Trek Stache 6

Hey guys, I am pretty new to mountain biking. I am currently riding a Trek 6000, but the bike is not mine so I am looking to get one of my own. I was looking into FS bikes, but quickly realized that with a budget of only $1500 I couldn't get much. I've decided and think I'll be better off just getting a nice hardtail. The type of riding I plan to be doing is light DH, singletrack, and just some plain and simple trail riding. Can you take this bike off jumps and drops? Can you ride very aggressive on it? That is what I am looking for. I Have narrowed my search down to the Trek Stache 6. Is this the right bike for me? Thanks!

I wouldn't buy it for the riding you describe.
There are loads of good full suspension bikes for £1500.
Have a look at Giant Trance, Boardman FS Pro and Canyon Nerve AL. There are lots of others.
Also worth having a look online for 2013 model bargains.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I'd agree with Rocketmonkey on this.
My friend has one and it is a lovely bike. but he rides purely XC. I doubt it's be much fun on a DH track as it's only 100/120mm travel?
but for day to day trail centre riding it'd be fine.
but again as Rocketmonkey said, for £1500 you could get a half decent full suss bike.
look on pauls cycles, they have a few 2013 giants anthems and trances for around £1000

He uses funny money ($) though, so possibly might not be local.I don't do smileys.

Which dollars? US? Canadian? Australian? NZ?
Probably US, America's forget that the rest of the world exists.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I'm going to disagree on going for a full suspension bike over something like the Stache, it's a hoot to ride very capable of the riding the OP is looking at doing. I would say try and find a 2013 Stache 7 or 8 as the spec on the 6 (US model it seems) is pretty poor for your money0

but it's definitely not any good for dh.
as I said, it's fine for general trail riding0 -

There's no such thing as light DH, that would be like having a beginner friendly black graded trail.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I would say the whyte 905 is probably better if he wants an aggressive ish hard tail0
