Shimano BRM-505 brake 'burping'

I followed a quick Evans you tube tutorial on brake 'burping', It didnt however say anything about this being done with the wheel and rotor in place or off the bike??

Its removing the cap from the resevoir on the lever, topping up the fluid then gently squeezing the lever to release air bubbles, top fluid up again and refit the bladder and cover. Its not quite a full bleed of the system but a quick sort out, but the video didnt state if you should do it with the rotor in the caliper or out?

Presumably in, same as using a spacer if you're bleeding.

I do this with mine, you pull the lever slightly and slowly, I leave the wheel in.
