Chaps, I keep on finding a broken spoke on my rear wheel. Bike is a 2010 Carrera Vulcan, Wheels are 26inch WTB "things". What spokes would I need to buy if I need to replace it? I am getting bored of the fiver a time at the LBS

measured from? does the round bend count towards the length?0

To the outside of the bend, but not round the bend, if that makes sense.I don't do smileys.

Or just take one to Evans or something and they can check and then buy a bunch.
Just make sure the spokes on both sides (and both wheels) are the same size. Some are not. You can measure roughly in situ.I don't do smileys.

It's measured from the inside of the 'J' bend to the end of the thread. My guess would be around the 260-264mm mark as pretty much all of the Carrera mtb wheel spokes I have replaced have been in that range.0

I will measure them all up when I get the wheel off. Seems to be the same side each time at the rear. Maybe its worth this last time taking it to LBS again, then just buying a few spare ones. thanks for the input guys0

I'd just get a new rear wheel as they'll keep snapping.0

Fatigued spokes. I bet they'll get more frequent, see how it goes maybe.0

Almost replaced the bike as the forks went but decided to get some XCR forks for replacement for the XCM.
It does 70 miles a week commuting and done plenty of coast to coast so can't complain.0
