New forks

Hi
I managed to break my Mountain Bike forks at the weekend, unfortunately they are beyond repair and I need a bit of assistance in choosing a replacement.
The forks that I broke were 120mm travel forks and I’m having difficulty in sourcing a ‘like for like’ replacement.
So my question is, can I replace the 120mm forks with say forks with 100mm travel fork instead?
I appreciate that this will give less travel, I mainly ride XC anyway and not much downhill stuff so I don’t suspect it will have too much of an impact for the type of riding that I do.
The bike was seemingly designed for a 120mm fork, so will this mean that the bike will sit lower at the front because of the reduced fork travel and will this be noticeable from a riders perspective?
Or am I better to keep looking for a 120mm fork?
I’m a bit confused and don’t want to buy the wrong size of fork to fit my bike. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Forks I'm considering to replace them are Rockshox Recon Gold RL Solo air 100mm - QR - steerer 1 1/8 non tapered - non through axle

just buy another 120mm fork - doesn't have to be the same make. how old are the forks
how much do you want to spend0 -

Hi Alexthebear
the stanchions are scuffed to bits and one of the seals has come away from the lowers. I made inquiries about having the forks fixed, but the consensus seemed to be it would cost more to fix and refurbish than to buy a new set of forks.
So I'm on the lookout for some new 120mm forks.2011 Canyon Nerve XC 5.00 -
I would go for the same again otherwise your changing geomatry etc, why do you want to reduce travel?Paracyclist

You might have missed the requirement for QR.

They've been out of stock for months now - I suspect they won't be getting any more at that price.
To the OP, you can get a pair of brand new Epicons on Ebay (UK seller) for £135. They come set at 100mm travel, but it's a simple job to convert them F.O.C. to 120mm (no special tools needed). Ally steerer and stanchions, magnesium lowers, 1 1/8" steerer and 9mm QR. 1660g weight (with uncut steerer).0 -
