These stupid bikes come with a double/standard crank set with 26 t rear cassette. Can I fit a 11-30 mountain specific hg41 on it and will it work with normal shimano rear mech short cage I would imagine. Cheaper option than crankset change cheers

Looks like it has a 2300 rear mech which is rated at 26t, but will most likely work with a 28t. Not sure if a 30T will be OK, but you can try it. Might need a longer chain though. You might actually be cheaper fitting a compact chainset. I did this with my first road bike and picked up a Sora 3450 and HTII BB for just over £40. A square taper chainset would be even cheaper, e.g. http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/alloy-compac ... prod31096/
