Kona Coiler FS - any opinions?

My Boardman FS frame has snapped and I need to sort something out ASAP to get out riding again. A mate of mine has just informed me of a Kona Coiler FS going for £250. At present I don't know what year, model, spec or even condition of it but just wondering if any of you experienced lot may have a view on it? A quick search tells me it was a pretty good all-rounder but is a bit on the heavy side? And I know, I know, without condition/spec etc its impossible to tell if its a good deal or not - hoping to find out more detail later.
Still contemplating getting hold of a matching Boardman FS frame and perhaps removing the rear linkage to fit on my broken frame (snapped drive side chainstay). Obviously if I can get hold of it in large ( which I need) I wouldn't have to do this but have learnt that the rear end of the frames stays the same regardless of front end frame size.
Anyway, views/advice on the Kona would be great.

Nowhere near as good as your boardman.
Its an old bike, heavy and has very crude rear suspension.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Right, cheers RM.0

don't see how its crude - not really much different to current 4 bar linkages on a lot of bikes (and before you say it I don't mean a horst link)0 -
Mostly due to the terrible coil shocks they have and the old Konas didn't pedal very well.
One 4 bar link can work very different to another depending on linkage geometry.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Great bikes, very tough and plush too. Bit heavy but a lot of fun.0

I have one. Great fun downhill but horrible on anything else. Heavy, bouncy when pedalling, not a good like for like replacement. Mine is in bits to be sold because just isnt a good all rounder.0
