Not long had my Giant Defy 1 and am looking to get some better winter wheels - saw the Easton EA50's in the LBS and they look sweet and the guys there were positive about them but I know they are basic wheels. anyone had any problems or are they decent wheels for the money - £300.

They came as standard on my cube, paired with Ultremo ZX's they worked just fine. However having upgraded to some Planet X 52mm the rear hub failed when I put them back on for a Hill Climb event. Not sure what the history of reliability is but as a set of nice looking wheels (it matters) I'd think they were a decent buy. I used mine throughout the winter before last on some pretty harsh roads in the peaks and they never let me down.Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

They are sooo pretty! but a lot of reading this afternoon is putting quite a negative slant on them! I'm now leaning towards some Fulcram Racing 3's being lighter and, allegedly, more durable.0

To be honest, for winter wheels I wouldnt bother. I was using the Planet X wheels and as the Eastons were out of action I bought a set of Fulcrum 7's from Merlin for £107 to use for winter. So far so good. I'd just use the wheels that came with your Giant and then upgrade to something nice for dryer weather when the roads arent so harsh.Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

One of my club mates has them and hates them. Can't remember what exactly went wrong with them though.25% off your first MyProtein order: sign up via https://www.myprotein.com/referrals.lis ... EE-R29Y&li or use my referral code LEE-R29Y0

I had some as standard on my Cube Agree. Build quality was very poor and they had to go back to my LBS a few times to have the spokes tensioned. Now the spoke tension is sorted they're ok - fairly comfortable and reasonably fast rolling but a bit sluggish to get moving. My LBS seem to think that the batch on the Cube bikes was faulty and generally, they are a fairly reliable wheel
I'm sure I've seen them on sale since at less than £300 though0 -
Came on my Cube, did 700 miles before trading up as I wanted tubeless. No problems with mine, noticeably less wind noise from the spokes and seem less affected in crosswinds than than the lighter round spoke wheels that replaced them. I whipped of the decals, each to their own huh!0
