Gear cables, cheep or really expensive?

Would there be a massive difference between cheep cables and very expensive ones.
I can get them for about £5ish to over £20.
Don't mind going expensive, if there is a big quality difference.

What's sp410

sp41 is the outer cover the gear cables run inside.
i've just changed cables on my bike recently.
I looked at the sealed kits and ended up buying a few stainless shimano cables for a fiver each off merlin, which work just fine with a couple for the spares box.0 -

Not sure where you got those cable prices from, my stainless inners were less than £2 each and I can get decent quality galvanised inners for about £1 each.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

To be fair, Shimano stainless inners are utterly obscene now through legitimate channels - £6 each at retail. They were £1.99 a couple of years ago.
No real reason to go for anything other than a decent inner and SP41 though as suggested, although if you want to go a little mental then this Quaxar outer combined with Power Cordz inners is super light and very smooth.0 -
I have no complaints with the inners that you can buy in Wilkinson for £1.19. Been running mine for the best part of nine months now with no problems.0

Yup, I had those on my commuter ridden through salty winters, only changed this year as the galvanising had gone white (no red rust), but as I got some stainless (Alligator) from an LBS on my travels for £1.49 each I went that route.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
