Good place to go abroad in the very near future. Got two little one's under 3?
Not mega bucks and have to fly from Glasgow, Prestwick or Edinburgh.
Any suggestions?

Last year we went to North Cyprus, whilst the flights were expensive , everything out there was dirt cheep (less than £40 for a meal out for four, with a decent slug of ale and then a lift home at the end)0

Not a bad point, although I'm guessing it was 'tongue in cheek'. For little kids half the excitement is going on a plane for the first(?) time.
Our first trip abroad was to Corfu. At the time it was very cheap to eat out, mainly because they were little and didn't need big meals.
The older I get, the better I was.0 -
England! well it might be abroad soon
But seriously, best place we found for really young children was cala galdana in Menorca, quietish, self contained very niceAll lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....0 -
Mallorca, the north east is the best Alcudia / Port de Pollenca. Won't be super hot at this time of year, you'll need sweaters & coats for the evenings.
Cycling is good too0 -
La Rochelle from Edinburgh, then hire car to nearest Eurocamp/Keycamp. Good campsite in St. Pierre d'oleron.0

If it's very soon and you want decent-ish weather then Canary Islands. Not sure about flights but they're popular enough so there should be some from your end the world. Good deals to be had out of school holidays and plenty of kid-friendly places and stuff to do."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." My advice is to take them on as many holidays as possible for the next couple of years because once they're at school you're going to be limited to Tenby in August.0

tbh i'd check deals on lastminute etc., or even a local travel agent if there is one
there're usually decent unsold packages being knocked out for big discounts as long as you are flexible on where/when, it can be the most cost effective option, especially if they're including transfers and some/all food/drinks etc.
unless a break from cooking/shopping is part of it, apartment/villa rental is also cheaper this time of year, best if you know the specific area though as you could end up in the deep sticks by accident (i've done that!)my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -

I really don't see Piña doing any of that when he's at home so I don't think it's a consideration here"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

I don't shop, unless it's for bike bits online and I do a lot of cooking - you cheeky f*cker.
Looks like we're off to the Costa Brava - warmer rain than here. Might get a footie game in too in Barca
Menorca is appealing.
@Gary H. They're a bit wee for camping. I don't do campseanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

Minorca is very family orientated last time I was there.0

Majorca is a great place, you can hire a bike for your own time and the Spanish know how to look after families with kids. We have been many times as its close and fun.Living MY dream.0

Don't need to imagine A77. Here's me at my last holiday - a park bench in Glasgow. It was f**kin' ace.

If you're thinking Canaries, we did La Palma a few years ago and it was great. Not too touristy, great to explore and very decent weather. Don't remember it being very expensive, as we were on a budget at the time.
Would definitely recommend it.0 -
When my kids were little we went to the Scottish islands. Kids often hate hot weather plus all the travel.0

I would recommend a camping holiday in Brittany"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

Blame the spare 400m thread, the passport office, extortionate flight prices, odd booking times, the 165euro cost for a Barcelona vs Valencia game on the 1st Feb, rain, more rain and yet even more rain.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

Lovely quiet Island, been a couple of times. Guaranteed good weather. Sandy beaches and shallow water which is great for younglings.
All the resorts are on the south/south west of the island. Its nearly all low rise development and there are no drunken yobs marauding the streets at night (or day). You might need to hire a car if you want to explore the island. The buses are good, but to get anywhere you have to catch a bus to the capital and then get your connection.
The beaches at Punta Prima and Binibeca are excellent.
