I've just had a new shifter come back from Merlin after it arrived with a part loose. It's the right hand shifter and to me it doesn't seem quite right. Basically when you move back down the gears (flicking the smaller leaver) there is no click (as happens perfectly with the left one), it does seem to be shifting down but the missing click (and it's vibration) is feedback that the action has happened.

Can anyone confirm that there should be a click on the right shifter as you flick the smaller leaver.

Yes mine does click - have you got tension on the shifter cable? It relies on that tension to shift.

The shifters are not installed. I think they have serviced the shifter and maybe tightened something that has resulted in this.

I just happen to have a 105 5700 right hand shifter sitting on my desk and it does click if you push just the smaller paddle, but the click is quieter than in your click both together.
