totally messed up rear gear adjustments - old Shimano
8 speed, Shimano RX100 brake+gear levers, Shimano 600 rear derailleur -- mid to late 90s.
In an effort to adjust my gears by trial and error -- not knowing what I was doing that is -- I've really messed up the whole rear gear workings/adjustments.
I've messed with the H and L screw, the tightness of the cable, the cable-screw (not screw as in a screwdriver needed, but screw as in turn with your fingers) thing near where the gear cable goes into the derailleur.
At the moment I'm finding that, among other things, in high gear the cable is very loose. Then in a few shifts down, no where near all the way down, the cable becomes ultra tight. Anyway, it's just totally messed up -- adjustment-wise.
How to fix?
Thanks.
