Last minute holiday

I have a few days off from the 18th to the 22nd of january and I wanted to get away. I'm living in London and willing to travel. Is there anywhere people would recommended where I can travel via public transport, hire a bike and stay in a place (youth hostels would be good!)

Get yourself up to Glentress and Innerleithen!

Train or plane to Edinburgh, bus out to Peebles. Glentress has those hobbit house things, hotels, bed and breakfasts and so on. Bike hire is not badly priced at Alpine Bikes, and there's enough trails between Glentress and Inners to do you a good few days.

Or failing that, one of the big Welsh trail centres like Coed Y Brenin, Betws-Y-Coed or Machynlleth. There'll be bike hire and hostels around those places, and again, between them theres enough trails for weeks of riding.
