Shimano BR-395 Hydraulic Disc Brake

Right, so basically ive been riding my Voodoo Bizango hard since about June, few trips to Cannock, FoD, Llandegla etc and in the past two weeks the rear brakes biting point has moved considerably towards the handlebar and there is a weird clicking noise only when braking. Does this sound like a fault with the brakes? or is it just a case of new pads as the front one which i don't use as much is fine. I have always been very careful in terms of avoiding contaminating the discs/pads when cleaning/lubing and it only really came about after a very wet and muddy ride.

Are the rear pads worn, have a look, it's pretty easy to tell.
Normally the front brake gets more hammer than the rear.0 -
Front brake should be doing 80% of the work.I don't do smileys.

The rear pads look fine from above, should i take the brake off the frame and have a look inside?
I also use the rear brake more as the main place where i ride is very fun to drift/side the back wheel. The front brake feels absolutely fine.Framebuilder

Just look at the pads, no need to take the brakes off.
And using the brakes isn't sliding or drifting, it's skidding, which wreck trails, and should be reserved for 12 year olds.I don't do smileys.

Only on gravelly public footpaths, am i literally looking for the pads to be closer to the metal bit of the pad?Framebuilder

You are looking at how close the disc is to the metal bit of the pad, should be at least 1mm away.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Check your lever reach grub screw hasn't moved itself.
Wind it out to full reach and pump the lever a few times, see if that feels better.0 -
