Not sure if ive fluffed up the setup here but my new rear mech is very stiff. Is it the case you have to bed them in?
Mech is a M662 Shimano SLX shifters are XT M770s which are perfect with my old mech whiz up and down smoothly. Anything obvious i should be checking?

Not, but the cables i used came with the shifters which are a couple months old if that0

Have you got the newer Shadow Plus model - if so it has a 'clutch' mech on it designed to avoid chain slap. This stiffens the thing up - there is an on/off switch for it. I have found you need to switch it to off to remove back wheel as it does make it very stiff0

cabling is all correct as fair as i can see. I dont think its the clutch model came from CRC in a bubble wrap bag with instructions. Ill have a look at it an see.0

Cooldad was right, cables. weirdly when i took the connector from the brake it was fine and at the mech end just about mid way it decided to snap and unravel. New cables it is then!

Get stainless steel cables. Much better than galvanised.I don't do smileys.
