First century ride of the year today

Man I forgot how much hard work a century ride was.
I rode out with a friend who peeled off after an hour then up to Dovedale in the Peak district from Tamworth in the Midlands. The ride home from Dovedale to Tamworth was into the wind the whole way too, I was crying inside all the way home.
I Saw some beautiful sights on the journey out, but don't remember seeing any on the way back!

fair play doing a century at this time of year, during the summer it should be a skoosh.0

Thanks fella, that's my thinking too!0

I did 83 miles last week and it wasn't too difficult, though it was only meant to be a 50 miler and not too hilly. Certainly not as hilly as a ride into the Peak District for sure, so well played.0

Imperial or metric?0

I'm not far from Tamworth, there always seems to be a bitch of a headwind coming back that way. Give me a shout if you need a wheel to sit in, I'm usually about up there.0

Metric moonbiker.
Thanks bananasbrah.0 -
Great effort for this time of the year, well done.
I'm confined to the turbo in the garage at the moment, due to broken bones in my hand, can't get a glove on over my splint.

Did 89 miles on 2nd January with 5140 feet of elevation on my single speed.
Not easy at this time of the year especially in Scotland0 -

55 miles is good on a S/S at any time of the year
I stay south of Glasgow, so my route took me through Glasgow, Aberfoyle, Port of Menteith, Thornhill, Doune, Dunblane, Bridge of Allan, Stirling, Denny, Kilsyth, Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs, Glasgow and back home0 -

Have you been round Strathspey? some great roads around there, rewarding climbs, good long descent into Grantown, wonderful recovery drinks too!
Not SS though.0 -
Been around Speyside and surrounding area plenty times in the car, never on a bike though. Planning cycling the 3 pistes sportive this year so that will get me into the area for a day's torture0

The one I did I really liked was Dufftown, Glenlivet, Tomintoul, Grantown, Knockando, Craigellachie and back to Dufftown. Good cafe in the old fire station in Tomintoul and good bakeries in Grantown for a cake and coffee.
Starts off with nice long but fast climb along glen Rinnes, a sharp climb up from Bridge of Brown, long very fast descent into Grantown and a nice rolling route along the valley past Cardhu, Knockando etc.
did it in sunshine,, brilliant day out.0
