Help with tyre selection

Hello all,
My first post here, I'm hoping for some help in tyre selection. I'm relatively new to mountain biking, I've spent a year on a Specialised Rockhopper (with Ground Control tyres), and just bought a Scott Spark. I ride in the South of the UK, mostly around the Kingley Vale area - at this time of year it is a real mix of surfaces, from deep mud to fireroads.
The Spark comes with Schwalbe Rocket Ron tyres, and I'm wondering whether I've got the right tyres for the conditions - the bike feels 'squirrelly' and skittish on wet muddy surfaces, when compared to the solid tracking I'd grown to expect from the Rockhopper setup in similar conditions.
Maybe I just need time to get used to the new bike, but I thought Id canvass views on the tyres - budget isn't really a problem, I just want to get the right tyres for the conditions. Recommendations would be helpful!

Rons are good, but not ideal in mud for sure, and they always feel skittish, though you get used to letting it move around under you.
Maxxis Beavers would be a good option for a spark for muddier rides, keep the Ron's for summer.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

You can go for a mud tyre which obviously works well in those conditions but may be slower elsewhere or more of an all rounder like a Maxxis High Roller or Advantage. Best having summer & winter tyres as a minimum though - I agree keep the Rons for summer. Ask riders or bike shops in your local area though as winter conditions do vary from place to place eg its quite fast draining and not really muddy where I ride in winter.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

Specialized storm control or Bontrager mud-x are pretty good IMO. Both light and grip really well in mud. The Bontrager might be less draggy than the Specialized although the Specilized is a bit wider for more cushioning. The Rons will be great for summer though, as everyone says.0

I love my specialized Purgotorys for winter riding, in fact summer riding as well. great all-round tyre. Cheap to boot.

Well I took advice from local guys as well as this forum, and ended up buying a pair of conti mountain king II's. Went out in similar conditions to Thursday and it was like a different bike! Anyway, thanks to all for the advice.
I'm on my second 300 Russ, fantastic boats.0
