I'm trying to buy the cheapest road/hybrid bike I can (£150-£210) with an alloy frame (it'll be living outside). I have unfortunatley stumbled acrss one site/bike giving a max load/rider weight for a bike within my budjet.

Does anyone know of any sites that gives any figures for bike/wheel load capacitites?

Cheers

Any new bike in that price range will not be that carefully engineered that the manufacturer will have a max weight figure that is anything more than an estimate. You are going to get weak hub bearings, dodgy wheel builds, budget spokes and rims, cheap tyres and poorly protected bottom bracket and headset bearings whatever you buy.

  • iirc Halfords Apollos and Carreras claim a max weigh limit of 140kg bike/rider/luggage combined, but it is the same manual for all of the bikes
