Boardman or Specialized

I went on a trip around Europe on a 2011 specialized tricross but it was my dads and I'm at university so I'm now faced with the decision of what bike to get. I want to use the bike for long trips (3-4 weeks in Europe again this year and a few others) but also more of a road bike than a touring bike.
The bikes I have short-listed are the Speicialized Tricross and the Boardman CX Team bike and I just wanted to know what the opinions were on both the bikes? Which one is worth more for the money? Or is there a better bike out there for under £900?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Have a look at the Genesis range. If you can stretch the budget, the Croix de Fer would be a great option, however the CdF (it's cheaper brother) would be worth a look. RRP for the Croix is £1,149 and the CdF is £850 but you can get up to 10% off those prices by shopping around. They are a good compromise between an out and out CX bike and something suited to longer distances.0

The new alloy-framed Cannondale Synapse might well fit the bill. They have an absolutely first-rate aluminium frame, are a good choice for a long-distance European tour and are better road bikes than a Tricross without being a hard-core race machine. There's an alloy Synapse with Sora for about £750, a Tiagra one for about £950 right the way up to a disk-equipped Ultegra one for about £1300. I have one and really like it.0

Hi Nathan,
Have a look in the classifieds section. There is an "as good as new" Specialised Secteur Disc, I believe that if the size is right, you will not find a better bargain. Over £900 worth of bike for something around £600. I tried to buy it but was gazzumped, I bought a Canyon Inflite only to find that the sale of the Secteur fell through. I know it is still there.
Good luck.0 -
Thank you for all the help everyone. I'm going to spend the next few days finding the suggested bikes in store and seeing what they're like. it looks like I missed the Secteur unfortunately, thanks for that though!
I appreciate the advice.0
