Strange cuts on new tyre

Afternoon all, how are ya?
My front tyre has developed some strange cuts, as the picture shows. The tyres are Continental Travel Contact, and roughly 6 weeks old, and the cuts go round roughly 50% of the circumference of the tyre. I am talking with my LBS (sold 'em to me) who in turn are talking to Conti, who will hopefully chuck me a new tyre.
Anyone had these type of cuts before, and if so what could cause them, and how could I prevent them in the future? Or could it be a dodgy batch of rubber?
Many thanks

Look like normal cuts to me. Tyres do get cut, the rubber is sacrificial, I'm afraid... softer rubber cuts easier than harder oneleft the forum March 20230

Thanks for your reply Ugo.
My reason for asking is I was getting many PF visits on brand new tyres (8 in 2 weeks), while the same model tyre lasted me nearly 3.5k miles previously, with minimal visits. I was riding along a canal towpath and have since changed my route to stick to the road, so maybe this will stop her coming to visit for a while?0 -
Wet weather leads to more unscheduled deflations I'm afraid.
Not one is there more pointy things washed onto roads and cycle paths but the water also speeds up the penetration process (fnarff) as most punctures are are a result of debris getting lodged in the tyre and slowly working their way through.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX
Race - Fuji Norcom Straight
Sun - Cervelo R3
Winter / Commute - Dolan ADX0 -
If you puncture so often, I'd get a different tyre. May I recommend Vittoria Randonneur PRO 32? They're half price on planet X. I have had them on for nearly one year now... probably 5,000 miles. Zero flats and the tyre will easily do another 5,000 miles. I do ride on road, off road, canal path, glass, the lotleft the forum March 20230

you don't mean the slits do you? since they are part of the tread see here a photo of a new tyre.
you do seem to have nicked the tyre dead center of the photo but looks like a small surface cut.0 -
I do mean glass... I often ride along the Grand Union Canal and once you get around Hayes/Southall there is glass everywhere...left the forum March 20230
